The Cervantes Windsurf Challenge is back at Hansen Bay, Cervantes WA from 2-4 January 2026!
Same format, same awesome crew and hopefully same legendary conditions! Whether you're a wave warrior, speed demon or just frothing for a great time on and off the water, this is the event to kick off your year! Register at https://www.windsurfingwa.org.au/events.
In the ever expansive blue shallow and turquoise bay that sits between Thirsty point and Cervantes island lies a windsurfers paradise. With onshore winds for safety, perfect water conditions to go fast and explore the area with fellow windsurfers. The slalom course is approximately 9 km long with 4 gybe marks in flat water. The event is backed by consistent and strong sea breezes that bless this region of the coastline. Registration and start will be at Hansen Bay. The finish line will be at Thirsty Point. This event is about fun, fun and more fun on and off the water!!!!!!
For 2026 we will have another full three days of activities planned for you:
- GPS Competition on Friday, Slalom on Saturday, some fun chase racing and gear tests on Sunday.
- Friday night at the Country Club, Saturday at Lobster Shack, dinner, awards presentation and raffle.
- Sunday morning Bacon and Eggs breakfast at the Oval.

Notice of Race:
The Tribal Cervantes Windsurf Challenge will see participants race over 2 days.The Cervantes GPS competition will run on Friday afternoon 2 January from 13 to 16.30 hours. Location will be Hansen Bay, up to Thirsty Point, Cervantes WA (see enclosed map).The GPS course is an open water challenge, sailing to achieve results in the following categories: Alpha, 1HR average knots, Nautical Mile, 5 x 10 sec, 2 sec max speed. Day Two is 4 slalom races on a downwind slalom course, approximately 9km long with 4 gybe marks in flat water.
