win7, 8, 10 can't connect gw60.
tried several computers.

"Device changed, com ports rescaned!!!Check if the proper com port is selected...
Check if the GW60 COM USB mode is selected."

Sometimes it works, next time, not...
it's not the cable. i have two of them.

the golden connectorplates are fine.

any tips? gw60 failure?

Solved...
by reinstalling latest firmware.
Now it works fine.

Hi, I have the same issue. I got a GW60 replaced under warranty, I received a used watch with different serial number, so not my ''original'' watch. It seems to work, however, I can't connect it to my computer (windows 10). I reinstalled the firmware, update etc., basically tried everything I could think of.

The message I get is always the same. COM port error ( Device changed, Com ports rescaned, Device in MTN mode, Device changed, Device sync failed, device disconnected, USB device detected, Devise changed, com port rescaned and so on and so forth).

Installed the com port driver, cleaned the contacts, checked the pins, tried two different cables. What other options do I have? Any advice?

Thanks!

I re-open this old topic because I have the same problem. The watch was used rarely and carefully, but now sometimes it connects, sometimes not. It's two days now that refuses to connect returning this message "Device changed, com ports rescaned!!!Check if the proper com port is selected... Check if the GW60 COM USB mode is selected."

It's annoying and frustrating. Actually it seems that is totally crap. One cannot find a replacement usb cable, no mention at Garmin site, like it never existed, and a laconic page at Locosys site with just a very basic manual.

Lost money...

I have the same problem, on Mac. Managed to find someone with stock of new cables, bought two. Now, suddenly the watch does not connect again. Tried the new cable, same problem.

The dealer I bought the cable from is in the US. Craig Bergh <cbergh@iw.net> He might still have cables.

For thos struggling with the GW-60 not connecting for file download on Mac, I understand it has to do with Macs trying to repair a damaged file system caused by unplugging the watch without disconnecting it properly. The remedy is to leave the watch connected, COM selected as normal for download. After 20-60 minutes, your Mac will have repaired the disconnect issue and show the file structure. Make sure the watch is properly disconnected before removing from the clamp. I suspect deleting the track log each time afterwards will help shorten the repair each time.
