Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.
We had a big family haircut booked for around midday so I was keen to go windsurfing early as the ENE wind continues to blow with wall to wall sunshine. I arrived at Levington Marina at 8.45 with the tide very low and definatly more wind than yesterday. Foil board ready but picking a sail size is a bit of a lottery as the wind was cross off from the left so it was difficult to judge its strength so I went for 6.5 again. I launch into the Marina entrance channel which was at its narrowest but sailed straight out into deep water easily but quickly realalised I had rigged way too big and should have gone with 5.5 or even the 5.2 but I stuck with it. I could manage the big gusts OK but I had three disasters, first I hit a mooring rope of a small fishing boat and ended up with my sail over my head, I had to pull the mooring rope to get free, not pleasant and knackering! I then had a few runs across the river, getting down to the docks, then when sailing back I went for a few speed runs trying to get a 20 knot average! I then sailed too close to the far bank and sailed into mud and I thought my harness hook had been riped off so I sailed back to the launvh shore, not much fun without a harness. I landed in waist deep water and found my harness hook had just come undone and I was quickly up and sailing again and promptly sailed into another mooring bouy rope, luckily I could get off this easily! I then had my best run reaching 21.40 knots and decided to call it a day missing out on the 20 average! I packed up, showered and headed for home making a quick detour to take some weather pics of Levington Church!
On reaching home the haircuts were in full swing with the lovely Sue who has been doing our hair for many many years now, Dan was in the chair on his lunch break with Mag half way through getting her perm curlers with Maeva and Jay taking it all in! Maeva helped me hang my wetsuit on the line, she is great at handing pegs, I then make lunch as Mag is finished, I have a very short cut and Maeva has her fringe done!
Walk – Around Trimley.
Haircuts done we take Jay and Maeva home leaving Mag and I to drive to Cordys Lane and have a breezy walk in the lovely Suffolk countryside with blossom everywhere – top day!
PS was chuffed to get a pic on ITV.s About Anglia :)
